There is a popular song that says "love isn't love until you give it away." The point is that love isn't merely an emotion or concept, it is an action. Similarly with Christianity. If we have received Christ as our Savior, we should be moved to action. Notice four examples of Christianity in action found in Acts 11. 1) Christians rejoice when groups of people receive "repentance to life" (v.18). We long to see people from every tribe, tongue and nation experience the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. 2) Christians engage the culture around them. Verse 20 talks about witnessing to Hellenists. These were people of Jewish descent but who were totally identified with the secular culture. They were Jewish by race but not by religion or practice--what we would call today "secular Jews." Certain Christian men engaged these people and proclaimed Christ to them. 3) Christians are concerned about spiritual growth, not just conversion (v.23). Barnabas at first, and then Paul helping him, discipled the believers in Antioch, which led to even more people turning to Christ. 4) Christians pro-actively care for those in need. The believers in Antioch, hearing of an impending famine, gave of their resources to help those in Judea who would be in need. If you are a Christian, how are you putting you faith into action?
