Every summer here in Texas and other western states, we are alerted to the dangers of West Nile Virus, a mosquito-carried disease that in rare cases can be deadly. We are told by health officials to not have any standing or stagnate water on our property as this can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. In our spiritual life, stagnation is also dangerous. It keeps us from becoming all that God would have us to become and it often makes us more susceptible to temptations. The Apostle Paul was never stagnant. He kept growing, kept moving, and kept doing his part to expand God's kingdom. In Acts 16 we see Paul and his team on the move once again for God, making their way through various cities and regions. Notice several things that Paul did as he moved for God. 1) He expanded his team. Paul kept his eyes out for people whom he could mentor (vv. 1-4). 2) He was Holy Spirit led. He went when and where God wanted him to go (vv. 6-10). 3) He engaged people, sharing Christ with a group of women (vv. 13-15). 4) He worshiped God even in difficult times and in difficult places (v. 25). 5) He was fearless in his mission (vv. 35-40). These are good steps for us to follow as we stay on the move for God and avoid stagnation.
